Royal Commissionとは、オーストラリア政府から独立した、非常に重要な問題についての調査機関であり、Royal Commissionは、公聴会を開き、証人を宣誓の下に呼び、証拠を強制する幅広い権限を持っています。またRoyal Commissionは何を変えるべきかについて、政府に勧告を行う権限があります。各問題に対してそれぞれにRoyal Commissionが設立され、どのような問題を調査するかを定める職務権限があります。
Financial Service業界に於いては2017年にRoyal Commissionが設立され、Financial Industryに対して多数の改善勧告報告書を2019年に発行。別名Haynes Reportと呼ばれ、現在もFinancial Industry内のいろいろな改善が進められ、銀行の与信審査が厳しくなったのもRoyal Commissionの勧告のためです。
